About Me

I am Assistant Professor and Director of Undergraduate Studies in Public Health in the Department of Health Behavioral Sciences and Affiliated Faculty in the Department of Ethnic Studies at the University of Colorado-Denver. Previously, I was an Assistant Professor of Sociology at CUNY-Lehman College. I completed my Ph.D. in Sociology at the University of California-Los Angeles in June 2014. My research interests include medical professions, healthcare organizations, patient-provider interactions, race and ethnicity, and qualitative methods. My research has been published in numerous outlets including the Journal of Health and Social Behavior, Social Science and Medicine, Sociology of Health and Illness, and Qualitative Health Research.
